Direct answer

A reliable CRM-to-Google Ads feedback loop preserves lead matching data at capture, records meaningful downstream outcomes in the CRM, sends eligible conversion events through a current supported import route and monitors diagnostics for rejected or missing records.

Best for: Businesses and implementation teams connecting qualified leads, booked jobs or sales outcomes from CRM back to Google Ads.

01

What changed in 2026

Google states that from 15 June 2026, current and future offline conversion and enhanced-conversions-for-leads upload implementations should use the Data Manager API, while legacy Google Ads API upload access is restricted for developer tokens without prior eligible activity. Existing implementations should verify their current route rather than assuming an older tutorial still applies.

02

Capture the matching data at lead creation

Preserve the click or first-party matching data needed later, together with an internal lead ID. The lead record should keep enough identity to connect the website event with the later CRM outcome without relying on manual spreadsheet joins.

03

Choose conversion stages that represent business value

Do not send every CRM status as an advertising conversion. Separate lead generation from qualified lead, booked job, completed sale or another outcome that genuinely reflects value. Keep the CRM definition stable so bidding does not learn from inconsistent stage usage.

04

Prepare and import data consistently

Normalize and prepare the required customer and event data according to the current Google implementation method. Record conversion time, action, identifiers and values using one documented mapping. Avoid silently changing the meaning of a conversion action over time.

05

Monitor diagnostics and rejected records

A successful API or connector response is not the end of the workflow. Review import diagnostics, matching quality, rejected rows, duplicates and timing. Assign ownership for failures and reconcile a sample of CRM outcomes against Google Ads reporting.

06

Acceptance test before bidding depends on it

Test from an actual ad click or controlled lead through CRM qualification and import. Confirm that identifiers survive, the correct conversion action is used, timestamps are valid, diagnostics are clean and the event appears against the intended click or campaign before using the signal for automated bidding decisions.
